Community Health Centres for BC

Thank you for joining a growing number of communities and organizations who are calling on Health Minister Adrian Dix to help meet BC's primary health care needs by supporting Community Health Centres (CHCs).

This template letter of support is available to use when composing your letter to the Minister.

We also encourage you to include this research brief on Community Health Centres from the BC Office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives with the letter.

CHCs are a proven model for delivering team-based, community-governed primary health care. The CHC model is well-positioned to meet BC's primary care needs in rural and urban settings while playing a leading role in helping to reduce health care costs.

However, this will require support and coordination by the provincial government.

The good news is that the Ministry of Health has committed to supporting CHCs as a key part of BC's strategy for primary health care reform. The scale of this commitment, the level of support for Community Health Centres, and the level of community involvement will depend on how much support we can show for a made-in-BC plan for CHCs.

Thank you for showing your support for a provincial plan to build a thriving Community Health Centre sector in BC.
