jsa frameKevin Smith: “Living Safely – Know Your Law”

Kevin Smith is a staff lawyer with the Elder Law Clinic of the BC Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support (BCCEAS). Kevin is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Ontario, and is a member of the BC and Ontario Bars. Kevin had worked as a legal aid lawyer for over thirty years in Ontario, and for the last five years he has worked in BC. Kevin also serves as the review counsel at the Access Pro Bono Wills Clinic at the downtown courthouse. Kevin is presently pursuing a Masters of Laws degree from the Centre for Excellence in Elder Law at Stetson University in Florida.

jsa marcyMarcy Cohen: Living Up to the Promise that “Home is Best”!

Marcy Cohen  recently co-authored a study that was very critical of BC’s home support system called ‘Living up to the Promise’. The report was published jointly by the Integrated Care Advocacy Group and the BC Health Coalition. Marcy has a long history of working on social justice issues and in Community-based research. Over the last 20 years Marcy co-authored more than 35 academic studies and reports focusing on how to build a more community- based, accessible and cost-effective public health system. Marcy is an adjunct faculty member at Simon Fraser University and a research-associate and board member with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
